Oscar-winning film director Michael Wadleigh will give plenary lecture at ICYC
2012-03-15
Oscar-winning film director Michael Wadleigh will give plenary lecture at ICYC entitled:

2050 where should we be?

He is best known as the Director of the movie Woodstock, the highest grossing documentary of all time, for which he won an Oscar in 1971. Although Michael found fame as a film-maker, his original training was in science, and he’s decided to go back to his roots to combine science and communication in a project to educate children about sustainability. His Homo Sapiens Foundation has created a UNESCO-funded educational resource ‘The Homo Sapiens Report: The Future of Humanity’. This begins from the principles of ecological foot-printing science to work out what a ‘fair’ earth share is, and what the implications for sustainability are of current trends in population growth, resource use and technology.
